It’s November which means it’s almost time for Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday! While all are about kicking off the holidays, there is a difference. During Black Friday and Cyber Monday, stores give steep discounts to customers who are shopping for the holidays, whereas Giving Tuesday came about when two organizations decided to dedicate a day to giving back to help remind everyone what this season is truly about.

Six years later, many organizations opt out of Black Friday and choose to participate in Giving Tuesday instead. We’re proud to be part of this group as we prepare for our annual Giving & Thanks campaign! Last year we had one day of giving and were able to donate hundreds of dollars to several charitable organizations. This year we hope to grow the tradition of giving by extending it to our time of Giving & Thanks starting November 1, 2019, through December 3, 2019.

Our Partnership

This season, we partnered with Cammies & Canines during our time of Giving & Thanks to inspire real change in the San Diego community. When you book a two-night stay (or more!) with us during A Week of Giving & Thanks, you’ll save $50 off your reservation and we will donate an additional $50 to Cammies and Canines.

We chose to partner with Cammies & Canines because they focus on supporting homeless and transitioning Veterans.  Cammies & Canines provides sober living transitional housing, structure and discipline, veteran-to-veteran support, canine companionship, and a chance to move from a state of homelessness to being employable and living a purpose-driven life again, all on their 289-acre ranch in Dulzura, California.  They conduct homeless outreach through providing care packages and haircuts to the homeless Veterans in the San Diego area.  The organization also rescues dogs on the verge of being euthanized and pairs them with the residents saving two lives at once.

Bringing homeless and transitioning Veterans and rescue dogs together in one place is what sets Cammies & Canines apart in our community.  They utilize their ranch to train the service dogs for the residents which helps them move forward in life with a puppy’s love.  The program helps to provide purpose and job training during their transition from homelessness and sets them up for success when departing for their next chapter in life.
